What Is A Balloon Garland
The balloon garland is a popular piece of balloon decor. A balloon garland is a gathering and stacking of balloons, held together by either ribbon, fishing line, or a balloon decorating strip in order to make the appearance of a garland made out of balloons. There are two types of balloon garlands, standard balloon garlands, and organic balloon garlands.

Standard balloon garlands are balloon garlands where the balloons are all sized to the same size. Standard Balloon Garlands can be held together with either ribbon, fishing line, or an entertainer balloon. (Picture above on the left)
Organic balloon garlands are balloon garlands where the balloons are NOT sized to specific sizes and are put together in a more “organic” manner. Organic Balloon Garlands can be held together with a ribbon, fishing line, or a balloon decorating strip. (Picture above on the right)
This post is going to focus on Standard Balloon Garlands, if you need more information about Organic Balloon Garlands please check out my post How To Make A DIY Organic Balloon Garland here or my post How To Make A Balloon Garland With A Decorator Strip here.
Steps To Make A Simple DIY Balloon Garland

- Wrap Balloons Into Quads
- Stack Quads
- Enjoy!

1. Gather All Your Ingredients
- balloons (the amount and size of balloons you need will depend on the size and type of garland you are making)
- balloon hand pump or balloon inflator (you can find my personal favorite hand pump on Amazon here)
- fishing line or curling ribbon
- scissors

2. Inflate, Size, And Tie Into Duplets
Inflate your balloons. Size your balloons to approximately the same size. For this example, I’m sizing my balloons to 9″. Check out my post on 3 Ways To Size A Balloon here, if you need more information about how to size a balloon.
Then tie the balloons into duplets. If you need more information on making a balloon duplet, check out my post How To Make A Duplet here.

3. Wrap Balloons Into Quads
Next, wrap the duplets into quads. If you need more information about how to make a quad, check out my post How To Make A Balloon Quad here.

4. Stack Quads
Begin stacking your balloon quads one at a time and wrapping your fishing line or curling ribbon around each of your newly stacked quads.

8. Enjoy!
