What Is A Balloon Bouquet
A balloon bouquet is a cluster or gathering of balloons arranged in an aesthetically pleasing way. Balloon bouquets can be made of helium filled balloons, air filled balloons, or a combination of the two. With the rising costs of helium, air filled balloon bouquets have become more and more popular.
There are many different shapes and sizes of balloon bouquets. You can even customize balloon bouquets to meet your specific design requirements.
To make a balloon bouquet you only need a few things. You will need balloons, (that amount will depend on the size and shape of the balloon bouquet you are making), string, helium, and a weight.
Start by determining what type of balloon bouquet you want to make. Balloon bouquets vary in size, shape, color, and arrangement.
How Many Balloons Do I Need For A Balloon Bouquet?
In general, a tabletop balloon bouquet uses between 3 – 9 balloons and a floor balloon bouquet uses between 5 – 13 balloons but really you are only limited by your imagination.
There is no specific number of balloons used in every balloon bouquet, the amount will depend on your specific design. The five main balloon bouquet types are Accent Balloon Bouquet, Tiered Balloon Bouquet, Umbrella Balloon Bouquet, Tapered Balloon Bouquet, and Cascade Balloon Bouquet.
Balloon bouquets can be used for every occasion from birthdays to graduations. They can accent a focal point or transform a space into another world. Birthday balloon bouquets often include balloons that say Happy Birthday! Birthday balloon bouquets can include big numbered balloons to indicate the number a person is turning.
Accent Balloon Bouquets
An accent balloon bouquet is a bouquet type where you want a particular balloon to stand out. Typically you will have a single latex, foil, or bubble balloon surrounded by other accent balloons.
Tiered Balloon Bouquets
A tiered balloon bouquet is a balloon bouquet with different tiers or levels of balloons. Each level is typically made up of three to five balloons. A tiered balloon bouquet can have just two tiers or several different tiers.
Tiered balloon bouquets can also have an accent balloon.
Umbrella Balloon Bouquets
An umbrella balloon bouquet is a gathering of balloons that resembles an umbrella. The balloons are arranged next to each other so they fan out like an umbrella. An umbrella balloon bouquet looks best with at least ten or more balloons.
Tapered Balloon Bouquets
A tapered balloon bouquet has a single balloon on the top level, two balloons on the next level down, three balloons on the next level down, four balloons on the next level down, and so on. A tapered balloon bouquet can begin to look like the shape of an evergreen tree.
Cascade Balloon Bouquets
A cascade balloon bouquet has staggered balloons resembling a cascading waterfall, hence the name. A cascade balloon bouquet can have just a few balloons or lots of balloons. A cascade balloon bouquet can be used to fill a large space because you can just keep adding balloons.
Another great thing about the cascade balloon bouquet is you can always add a second row of balloons or even a third row. You can make them as wide or as tall as you want.
Cascade balloon bouquets are extremely versatile.

Tiered Balloon Bouquet
Grab all the balloons for the top tier or level in one hand, and gently pull the ribbons until all the balloons are tight against your fist.
Grab all the balloons for the next tier or level in the other hand and do the same thing, pulling all the ribbons until all the balloons are tight against your fist.
Take the top tier or level balloons and add them from the top to the second tier or level of balloons. You want the balloons to just touch each other. The bottom of the top tier should barely touch the top of the second tier.
